This Hornbill is one of the largest of its species; whoever puts him on show, will find his room dominated. Paul Walther, one of the leading animal sculptors at the manufactory, created him in 1927. Walther was artistically self-taught, and as such he was an observer of particular exactitude. He did not cull his inspiration from the feathers of strangers, but plucked it directly in the zoo. Therefore the details on the beak and feathers are eminently exact and accentuated true to life. Limited edition.
