description
The Chocolate Déjeuner "Chinoiseries" after Höroldt is a magnificent example of the exceptional artistry of the Meissen Porcelain Manufactory and a tribute to the Baroque fascination with the exotic.

The Meissen court painter Johann Gregorius Höroldt (1696-1775) shaped the art of porcelain painting in the 1720s like no other. He developed a wealth of chinoiserie motifs, inspired by European visions of the Far East-vivid scenes featuring pagodas, exotic plants, animals, and figures dressed in imaginative garments. His designs, interpreted by his pupils in countless variations, made Meissen porcelain a coveted luxury among Europe's royal courts.

For the exclusive commissions of Augustus the Strong, who-like many princes of his time-was captivated by the chinoiserie fashion, Höroldt himself took up the brush. Continuing in this tradition, the master painters of the manufactory still open a window today into the colorful, intricate world of chinoiserie-where European artistry and Eastern dreamscapes merge in perfect harmony.

Crafted from glazed hard porcelain and refined with the finest multicolored overglaze painting and gold, the Déjeuner displays a painterly virtuosity marked by supreme precision and a harmonious color composition. Every brushstroke reflects masterful craftsmanship and artistic sensitivity-a symbol of Meissen's enduring pursuit of uniting art and craftsmanship in perfect balance.

The form of the Chocolate Déjeuner dates back to the first half of the 18th century, an era when the ritual of drinking chocolate became a symbol of cultured refinement.
Each limited-edition piece bears the "Crossed Swords" in cobalt blue, the special signet, as well as the limitation and numbering in gold.
