"Breakdancer" is sculptor Maria Walther's final project in the master class of Jörg Danielczyk - an impressive work with which Walther was able to capture the windmill breakdance move in porcelain. During the formative stages, the design underwent a metamorphosis from the original breakdancing figure into a highly abstract movement. Elongated edges swirl around the figure's body like air currents and meet stretched, taut surfaces. With "Breakdancer", Walther has created her own unique formal language - a fantastical entity that plays with light and shadow. The harnessed energy that Walther was able to translate into porcelain is gradually revealed upon explorative inspection.
