description
The "Sleeping Peasant Couple" sculpture made of Böttger stoneware is a true work of art - part of Meissen's exclusive collection. Due to the warm feel of the material, it can be wonderfully combined with pure white or hand-painted decorated porcelain - or another figure. In addition to this work of art, the brown material has also adorned a number of other exclusive models since the original recipe was brought back to life in 1919. Usually only discreetly hand-painted or left natural, the matt surface of the Böttger stoneware impresses with a mixture of relief and form. The soft lines and fine contours of the figure radiate a special sense of calm. The artwork "Sleeping Peasant Couple" originates exclusively from Ernst Barlach's expressionist creation, which manifested itself authentically and powerfully alongside the sculpture "God the Father" in the 1920s. The depicted figure and its unequal twin are considered milestones in the Meissen range of forms. The Böttger stoneware is fascinating both hand-painted and without any decoration - timeless, just like this sculpture.
