The Manufactory is marking the 75th anniversary of the death of this great porcelain modeller Paul Scheurich (1883-1945) with a limited-edition re-issue of his "Girl Standing" figurine from 1929. It was first cast in plaster of Paris in 1917, but was somehow lost sight of in Scheurich's studio until, in 1929, he offered this master model to the Manufactory. That very year the figure was cast in Böttger Stoneware, a reincarnation of the material Johann Friedrich Böttger had discovered whilst experimenting with clays in 1707, i.e. two years prior to his inventing white porcelain. The artist sets out his ideal notion of a woman's assets in a humorously overstated way.
