The colorful wall panel "Four Seasons - Spring" was created by Chinese artist Zhuoyu Hou and is limited to just 15 pieces. In her work for the MEISSEN porcelain manufactory, she often draws inspiration from the cultural roots of her homeland. In Chinese culture, the seasons are more than natural phenomena - they embody eternal transformation and the cycle of birth and transience. This recurring order, deeply anchored in philosophy, poetry, and art, also shapes the visual language of this wall piece.
The four-part series follows a crane through the rhythm of nature. Spring stands for renewal and blossoming: fields and meadows reveal their first blossoms while the proud bird stretches its wings toward the warming rays of the sun. The landscape glows in a vibrant yellow, which in China has long held profound meaning - once reserved for emperors, it symbolizes light, balance, and power. Willow leaves and branches highlighted with fine gold accents underscore the cheerful spirit of awakening.
The painterly execution combines softly flowing underglaze tones with detailed overglaze painting, harmoniously blending to create depth and brilliance in the composition.
The "Four Seasons" series can be completed with the additional wall panels - Summer, Autumn, and Winter. These are designed by Meissen artist Ramona Grzesik, bringing the ensemble to a harmonious annual cycle.
