Der als Deckelgriff fungierende Affe wurde einer allegorischen Figurengruppe entlehnt, die im 18. Jahrundert in der Manufaktur entstand und mit ¿Der Geschmack¿ betitelt war. Und weil Affen hauptsächlich in Afrika leben, zeigt der Dekor der Vase ein faszinierend buntes Phantasiebild aus diesem Kontinent: einen Urwald, wie nur Europäer mit Fernweh ihn ersinnen konnten.
