Limited Masterworks Vase Sea Snail

The limited edition vase "Sea Snails" is based on the extraordinary vase shape of the modeller Willi Münch-Khe, whose curved contours and striking snail embossing inspired the redesign of this fabulous work of art. A catalog of colored drawings by the Amsterdam apothecary and famous natural history collector Albertus Seba, as well as his own collections, served as a model for the hand-painted graphics. First, the shell contours are hand-painted on the "Sea Shells" vase as pen or brush drawings in sepia tones. Then each shell is individually designed with a multifaceted layer of color. A luster paint, one of the oldest color formulas of the MEISSEN^® manufactory, is used on the work of art and creates iridescent metal oxide layers in the final firing, which reflect the light like mother-of-pearl.
