description
The gravy boat "Field Fruits with Insects" made of the finest Meissen craftsmanship goes back to a form by master modeller Kaendler from 1735, limited as part of a dinner service commissioned by Count Sulkowski. Impressively, it shows the rich detail of natural painting inspired by Maria Sybilla Merian's elaborate illustrations. In perfect harmony of the hand-painted staffed artwork are insects and flowers with fruit depictions. Inside the gravy boat is a colorful batch of corn, peppers, columbine and jewel beetles framed by hazelnuts and rose hips - the finest Meissen craftsmanship and a particularly splendid addition to any dinner service in a limited edition. The exterior of the gravy boat is adorned with butterflies and other hand-painted colorful insects brought to life. This decor features particularly fine brushstrokes, as shown especially by the filigree insect wings. Both beautifully hand-painted and masterfully embossed, the limited-edition "Sulkowski" dinner service is testament to the achievements of Meissen's craftsmanship.
