As part of the "Limited Edition 2019" collection, the traditional arabesque painting method has been interpreted in a contemporary fashion, applied as a border for a modern vase and a dish form designed by Sabine Wachs in 1991 and 1997. The manufactory's own cobalt blue under-glaze paint was used to render the graceful pattern of vines and flowers. This paint sinks deep into the porcelain during firing, thus developing a unique depth and intensity. A striking contrast to the glossy blue painted flowers and vines, the 23-karat gold sets the objects' matte gold background, lending the decorative elements an almost religious quality that serves to elevate the images' paradisical symbolic power.
