The "Lizard Pot Oriental Floral Splendour" is one of the oldest pots of the Meissen porcelain manufactory and was originally modelled from Böttger stoneware. Inspired by vessels from China, a small guardian lion sits enthroned on the lid as a symbol of bravery and strength. Handle and spout are shaped like lizards, which stand for security, happiness and warmth. Porcelain painter Andreas Herten emphasised the pot based on oriental ceiling ornaments. In traditional Indian painting, precisely drawn with a pen, he covers the pot with small tattoos for a modern production. Limited to 50 pieces.
