The "Elephant" from 2018 is part of the Big Five group of figures by the manufactory sculptor Maximilian Hagstotz. The group of figures is produced in a series for the first time in the long tradition of Meissen animal sculptures. The elaborate staffage emphasises the Elephant's head and ears, especially the forehead and the eye area. The angular shape of the décor is based on African wooden sculptures and emphasises the individual character of the pachyderm with its lines. The filigree painting is therefore not only full of expressive symbolic power, but also testifies to the artisanship of the manufactory, which has been unrivalled for over 300 years. The "Elephant" combines the historical tradition of Meissen animal sculptures with an innovative and modern design. An ideal gift for every lover of impressive porcelain art.
