Single Figurine Elephant

With the "White Elephant", created in 1940, Meissen master modeller Erich Oehme produced an animal sculpture of remarkable charm and character. Measuring just 19 centimetres in height, the figure forms part of the rich tradition of Meissen animal sculptures and demonstrates the manufactory's exceptional ability to endow even small-scale works with a striking sense of presence.

Oehme modelled the animal's distinctive features with great attention to detail, from its powerful body and finely articulated ears to its elegantly curved trunk.
