With her 2017 rabbit figurines, the sculptor Maria Walther created a design series that break away from traditional naturalistic animal sculptures. With their minimal, flowing contours, the rabbits emerge from their bulb-shaped pedestals, evoking the first flowers of spring, which provided inspiration for the symbol-laden design. The colourful pedestals feature spring-like floral motifs rendered in a style that is reminiscent of watercolour painting. This vibrant imagery is contrasted by the rabbit's restrained artwork, that establishes the series' cursive elegance. Set individually or as arrangements of many, Walther's rabbit figurines provide a touch of Easter to any table setting.
