description
With the figure "Arabian Horse with Pedestal", the Meissen porcelain manufactory dedicates an independent porcelain sculpture to the Arabian horse for the first time in its more than 300-year history. In doing so, it expands its long tradition of masterfully crafted equestrian figures to include a breed renowned throughout the world as a symbol of elegance, endurance and nobility.
Meissen sculptor Jörg Danielczyk has captured the distinctive characteristics of the Arabian horse with remarkable sensitivity: the finely shaped head, the proudly arched neck, the harmonious body line and the animal's vibrant presence. Numerous studies of the horse formed the basis for this exceptionally authentic representation.
The subject of the horse has accompanied Danielczyk throughout his artistic career at Meissen. As early as 1978, his first work for the manufactory was "Halla", named after the famous Olympic horse ridden by Hans Günter Winkler. His intensive study of equine anatomy, movement and character finds a particularly compelling expression in this Arabian horse figure.
The finely modelled horse rises from a black pedestal that highlights both the radiant whiteness of the porcelain and the elegance of its silhouette. Balanced proportions and precise modelling lend the sculpture a distinctive presence and expressive power.
Standing 37 cm high, the work combines traditional Meissen craftsmanship with a timeless sculptural language. "Arabian Horse with Pedestal" is not only an exceptional collector's piece, but also a significant addition to the manufactory's long tradition of animal sculpture as the first representation of an Arabian horse in Meissen's history.
