The "Rhinoceros" from 2018 belongs to the "Big Five" group of figurines by the young sculptor Maximilian Hagstotz, who produced them for the first time in a series in the long Meissen tradition of animal sculptures. The entire head of the rhinoceros is decorated with elaborate black and white ornamentation. This emphasizes the individual character of the impressive animal sculpture. The angular design and also the decor are based on African wooden sculptures. The extremely filigree decoration is not only full of symbolic power, but also testifies to perfectly executed craftsmanship.
