The limited reissue of this cockatoo sculpture was created for "Meissen Atelier" under the creative direction of Otto Drögsler. Originally designed in 1737 by Meissen master modeler Johann Joachim Kaendler, the Baroque-era bird figure has been reinterpreted for the first time in a new, contemporary style that reveals a spirited interplay between naturalistic decoration and abstract patterns. Sparingly applied black accents accentuate the sharp contours of the feathers and create an eye-catching graphic effect. In vivid contrast to the black is the feathers´ bright-blue shading, applied in fine, radiating brushstrokes to achieve a distinct expressiveness. Designed as one part of a cockatoo pair that shares a decoration style, this figure is characterized by its blue plumage and individual pose.
