The "Lions Group" by the artist Erich Hösel from 1939 shows a pair of lions made of white Meissen porcelain. The detailed depiction suggests a caring interaction between lion and lioness. The figurine is part of Meissen's lively and varied world of figurines. Today as then, animal figurines are a popular decorative object. At the time of August the Strong, the animal figurines, such as the "Lions Group", were a masterpiece of Meissen's craftsmanship and they still are. For this reason, it is a great honour for artists to be able to explore the long history of the Meissen animal figurines. The single figurine "Lions Group" is a beautiful present with a lot of tradition.
