description
Capturing the "King of the Skies" at the very moment he lands on the falconer's glove, conveying both his effortless lightness and commanding weight, was a remarkable challenge for the young sculptor Maximilian Hagstotz. Defying conventional ceramic principles, the sculpture's entire weight is supported by an exceptionally narrow base, a true balancing act that pushes the limits of stability and craftsmanship.
This masterful work is an impressive testament to the artistic excellence embodied by the Meissen porcelain manufactory. Drawing the attention of both the viewer and the falcon itself are the delicately sculpted talons, captured in the precise instant of a successful landing. The intricate ornamentation of the back feathers radiates strength and rhythm. Each feather appears alive with movement, unfolding and ruffling as if caught in a gentle current of air.
For Hagstotz, who has been working at the manufactory since 2009, the special fascination of sculpting lies in revealing what is hidden, whether through a concealed detail or a design element that may initially seem unconventional. Only through the viewer's attentive gaze does the full beauty and deeper meaning of this extraordinary sculpture in Meissen porcelain gradually unfold.
