The bird figure created by two of the most gifted artists, Johann Friedrich Eberlein and Johann Joachim Kandler, is striking and imposing. With its mighty feathered cap and bright red-orange face, hand-painted, it sits alertly on its trunk. Its large eyes in contrasting light blue watch everything around it. The lifelike depiction of birds goes back a long way. Artists have been reproducing animal situations in great detail since the middle of the 18th century. They created this extraordinary craft in 1737. Hand-painted with great attention to detail, the bird figurine is a wonderful example of Meissen craftsmanship.
