Exclusive Collection Bald Eagle

The Bald Eagle was originally created in 2008 for the American Ambassador to Germany. Today, this monumental porcelain sculpture graces the entrance hall of the United States Embassy in Berlin - a special distinction and a great honor for the Meissen porcelain manufactory. The opportunity to create such an important national symbol in Meissen porcelain remains a source of great pride for us.

The creation of a large-scale porcelain sculpture of this kind requires the highest level of craftsmanship and centuries of expertise. Every single feather is individually modeled, refined, and hand-finished. This elaborate hand-decoration and sculptural detailing give the eagle its extraordinary realism and expressive presence. The production of monumental porcelain sculptures on this scale is unique in the world and remains possible only at MEISSEN.

Because of the significant technical risks involved - especially during the firing process - large porcelain sculptures are traditionally produced in white only. The fully decorated Bald Eagle is therefore an exceptional achievement and the largest animal sculpture that MEISSEN can offer in a polychrome version.

Particular attention was devoted to achieving a naturalistic appearance. The finely detailed plumage, nuanced color application, and especially the expressive eyes bring the eagle vividly to life. The goal was to capture the proud and powerful gaze that defines this iconic bird.

The creation of such a masterpiece places the highest demands on MEISSEN's master sculptors, assemblers, and porcelain painters. For this reason, the Bald Eagle is produced only for special occasions and in extremely limited numbers.
