Lovers of the manufactory will immediately notice the butterflies typical of MEISSEN or the painting style of the expressive flower motif on the "Wall Plaque Iris with butterflies". The latter is inspired by the fine flower and insect paintings of the naturalist Maria Sybilla Merian (1647- 1717). Meissen works of art in Merian's painting style are characterised by particularly fine brushstrokes or details in the form of filigree petals and delicate insect wings. It is a speciality of MEISSEN to combine works from its own history with contemporary elements, thus staging them in a new way. As a Limited Masterwork, the "Wall Plaque Iris with Butterflies" shows the absolute perfection of MEISSEN painting. To this day, Meissen porcelain painters continue to be inspired to create new decorations in Merian's style.
