With its richly detailed reliefs and lavish decoration, this bowl shape from 1849 is an impressive testimony to that splendid era, now presented for the first time with decorative painting layered across its entire surface. Classic motifs from more than three centuries of manufactory history are arranged against each other in segments, like the petals of a camellia. From underglaze painting to Watteau scenes and dragon motifs, the patchwork décor highlights the creative variety for which the Meissen name stands. This type of decoration was first used on a krater vase from Meissen's Exclusive Collection, which provided the inspiration for this eye-catching bowl.
