Rainbow Dragon Candle Holder

The candlestick "Rainbow Dragon" shows hand-painted a fantastic motif in dynamic, colorful staffage with decorations in gold. The base of fine porcelain presents two dragons, which are hand-painted with the finest brushstrokes in vivid colors, and complemented by floral tendrils. In addition, the dragon is framed by a frame in gold, which extends in three immaculate rings around the candlestick. Flowers and blue-green tendrils augur long life in Chinese culture, while the dragon represents success and prosperity. The "Red Court Dragon" with flaming pearl, flying around "Hôô birds" as a symbol of imperial power and unity of heaven and earth, is one of the earliest decorations of the Manufactory. The Ming dragon is still a popular motif on Meissen porcelain today. This candlestick joins a long tradition of highly symbolic works of art and impresses with detailed hand-painted, immaculately molded and delicately decorated with gold.
