description
With the vase "Phyllocactus," strictly limited to just 25 pieces, the Meissen Porcelain Manufactory presents an extraordinary work of art that unites floral exoticism with the highest level of craftsmanship. Standing at 18.9 inches (48 cm) tall, the vase bears the unmistakable signatures of two renowned Meissen artists: the sculptural form created by former Chief Sculptor Jörg Danielczyk and the masterful painting by Katrin Getzlaff.
For more than three centuries, MEISSEN has immortalized the full diversity of the floral world on porcelain-ranging from lotus and orchid to the radiant flame flower. Now another botanical rarity joins this tradition: the Phyllocactus. Known for its flat, unusually shaped shoots and magnificent blossoms, the epiphyllum makes its debut in Meissen porcelain painting with this creation.
Originating from the tropical forests of Central and South America, phyllocactus are true masters of adaptation: as epiphytes, they thrive in treetops with little soil, yet reward with their fascinating blooms. On the vase Phyllocactus, their green, flat leaves and raspberry-hued flowers elegantly wind their way up the slender porcelain neck-a depiction where nature and art merge in perfect harmony.
The delicate brushwork of Katrin Getzlaff lends the exotic phyllocactus an almost lifelike presence, while the sculptural form by Jörg Danielczyk gives the composition its powerful elegance. The result is a creation that captures the raw beauty of nature, fused with the precision of the Meissen porcelain tradition.
The "Phyllocactus" vase is not only an object of the highest Meissen artistry, but also a collector's rarity, limited to just 25 examples worldwide. And despite its authentic portrayal, admirers can rest assured-this cactus is guaranteed not to prick.
