The "Vase Springboks" represents an early, trend-setting work in an ideal combination: the form of Ludwig Zepner, the decor by Heinz Werner. The springboks, stylized in a subtle language and almost archaic, symbolise the departure into a new artistic epoch - just as the beginning of art is immortalized in the paintings of the caves of Lascaux and Chauvet. Heinz Werner is one of the most influential Meissen artists of the second half of the last century. Together with the designer Ludwig Zepner and the sculptor Peter Strang, he formed the so-called artist collective of the manufactory in 1960, to which the painters Rudi Stolle and Volkmar Bretschneider joined later. Together they created the modern porcelain style of the manufactory.
