Limited Masterworks Vase Leaves in black and gold

The elegant vase shape was created by Ludwig Sturm in 1890 and has now been given an expressive, contemporary reinterpretation through newly developed sculptural leaf applications. Like a living, growing tendril, the relief-like leaves extend across the body of the vase, following its flowing contours while also reaching out into the surrounding space. These compositional additions give the historic form a new silhouette and a distinctive character of its own.

The Flower Project carries the exceptional artistry of porcelain modelling and the application of sculptural porcelain elements into the future. In this way, MEISSEN brings together cultural history, masterful craftsmanship, and innovation. The painting also explores a new direction. The reduced palette of deep black and precious gold creates a striking contrast with the radiant white porcelain. While the black dramatically emphasises the sculptural structure of the leaves, the delicate gold accents add luminous highlights and lend the decoration exceptional depth and elegance.

The vase demonstrates that great craftsmanship is not sustained through repetition alone. It remains alive by finding its own distinctive response to a changing age.
