description
Limited to just 25 pieces, the plate "Blossoming Splendor with Goldfinches" from Meissen porcelain unites the grand tradition of baroque porcelain art with a contemporary interpretation. The form dates back to Däberitz (1821), while the masterful painting is by Steffi Wobeda.

What would a Meissen collection be without this icon of European porcelain art? With the enchanting snowball blossoms, created in 1739 as a commission for King Augustus III, Johann Joachim Kaendler achieved a true stroke of genius. Intended as a special gift for his bride Maria Josepha of Austria, the monarch had a service made in which countless small blossoms were hand-formed and lavishly decorated. More than 300 years later, these blossoms continue to captivate collectors and enthusiasts worldwide - and inspire Meissen artists to ever-new variations.

In its current collection, the MEISSEN manufactory presents the world's most famous porcelain blossoms on a tray form from 1821. Around 1,200 blossoms as well as delicate leaf tendrils are, just as in Kaendler's time, individually hand-shaped and carefully arranged on the tray with a fine knife. They form a lavish sculptural frame for a naturalistic scene, so typical of the painting of that era: two goldfinches perched on a wild rose bush.

The palette emphasizes the soft greens of the leaf tendrils and makes the brilliant yellow of the songbirds shine. The result is a perfect symbiosis of sculptural and painterly artistry - a baroque masterpiece in timeless reinterpretation, through which the enduring magic of Meissen's snowball blossoms continues to unfold.
