Our vide-poche and vase are a magnificent couple in two senses. Besides going well together as they stand, they combine two superb styles of Meissen porcelain painting - underglaze cobalt-blue framed by brocade painting in 23-carat gold. White gold® from MEISSEN® was already being decorated with Asian motifs in blue back in the time of Augustus the Strong (1670-1733). Their depth and radiant beauty are brought out to the full by sumptuously filigree brocade painting in gilt. Utterly intricate floral ornamentation trails over a matt gilded ground as if engraved. Here we have Baroque sparkle brought to a pitch of perfection adopting a modern painting technique.
