Limited Masterworks Gelada Mask

The "Mask of the Djelada" belongs to a series of ten impressive animal masks created by Max Esser in the 1920s. In addition to detailed studies of nature, the ability to skillfully produce these masks from MEISSEN^® cooper stoneware is of course also part of the work. This is exquisitely suited to the partly archaic animal masks and emphasizes their inherent power and dynamism. After successful firing, the velvety surface is ground, polished and oiled. Thus Esser's wild animals animate, roar, and snarl that exoticism as wall decoration back into the world from which it was to cultivate everything foreign. The sheer size, their expression and the special nature of the material make it impossible to escape the spell of the djelada.
The wall decoration is produced limited to 25 pieces.
