description
With the "Monkey Musician Mandrill with Harp", MEISSEN takes a subtly amusing approach to arts and crafts. Johann Joachim Kaendler, the famous master of this craft, presented his "Monkey Band" in 1753. This hand-painted figurine is part of the "Monkey Musicians" by Otto Pilz, 1903, which is a limited edition, nine-part reinterpretation of Kaendler's monkeys. In contrast to Kaendler, however, Pilz gave his monkeys more individuality and character. The "Monkey musician Mandrill with harp", for example, is particularly striking because of its pink dress. The monkey sits proudly and contentedly at his harp and plucks the golden strings. New edition - design year 2014, limited to 25 pieces.
