The renowned sculptor Max Esser was fascinated by the Böttger stoneware. It inspired him to create numerous animal sculptures, such as his chess set with 32 mythical animals. Among those chess pieces is the figure of the wild boar, which the MEISSEN® master student Maria Walther remodeled in a large-scale sculpture and contemporary work of art limited. The clear lines and shapes of the sculpture show a personal language of form and give the animal figure a liveliness in a modern form. The work of art is limited to 25 pieces.
